Pacific Highway upgrade : embankment material quarry Taree Bypass, Koorainghat : environmental impact statement

The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) is proposing to quarry material from the existing cut batters of the Taree Bypass, approximately 5km south of Taree (refer Figure 1.1). The excavated material would then be used as fill for the Pacific Highway upgrade between the Taree Bypass and Moorland over the proposed construction period of these projects. This Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) addresses the effects of establishing and operating the proposed quarry. The EIS has several main components including a review of the need for a fill material quarry (Section 3), definition of the project objectives (Section 3), consideration of alternative fill sourcing options (Section 4), description of the proposed quarry (Section 5) and assessment of the environmental, economic and social impacts and proposed safeguards for the proposal (Section 6).
